Forged Valves vs. Cast Valves: A Comparison of Advantages and Disadvantages
When choosing valves for pipeline projects, a common question is: Should one forged valves or cast valves? These two types of valves are widely used in industries such as industrial, municipal, water supply, oil and gas, and infrastructure projects. However, they are produced through different manufacturing processes and have different advantages.
Forged valves include high strength, good pressure resistance, excellent sealing performance, and a lower risk of internal defects. However, they are usually more expensive and are more suitable for small to medium-sized equipment. Common materials: forged steel A105, stainless steel F304/F316.
Cast valves are produced by pouring molten metal into molds with more complex shapes and larger sizes. Cast valves are commonly used in water supply, drainage, municipal pipelines, and general industrial systems.
